Frequently asked questions about this service

Access is through a hatch with folding ladder. Does that work?

Yes, everyday for us. We adapt techniques — one-by-one descent, chaining if needed. For large items, we disassemble up top.

What if my attic has asbestos?

We don't touch. Asbestos requires a certified abatement firm. We can refer you.

My attic is full of family stuff, I want to sort.

Plan more time. We bring everything down to a ground floor room, you sort at your pace, we come back for what goes.

Does your crew actually climb up into the attic, or do I have to hand things down?

We go up. One of our team climbs into the attic, passes items down through the opening, and does a final sweep so nothing gets left behind. We wear masks and knee pads since attic floors are often just joists and loose boards.

Is it a problem to do this in the middle of summer?

Attics get brutally hot under the Quebec City summer sun, often over 40 C by mid-afternoon. We book morning slots when we can so the crew stays safe and works faster. Spring and fall are the easiest times of year for an attic job.

Will pulling everything out kick up a lot of dust?

Some, yes. Old blown-in insulation and years of settled dust get stirred up as we clear items out. Our crew wears N95 masks and we suggest keeping the hatch closed afterward. A deep dust cleaning to wipe down the space is a separate service if you want one.
