Designated a heritage site by the Quebec government back in 1970, the island runs more than 34 km long and is home to roughly 6,800 residents across nearly 195 km². It’s a rural, historic setting: few recent developments, and many properties that have stayed in the same families for generations.
One page for the six villages. We cover the whole island along the chemin Royal (Route 368): Sainte-Pétronille and Saint-Laurent to the southwest, Saint-Jean and Saint-François toward the eastern tip, Sainte-Famille and Saint-Pierre to the north. Whatever the village, we show up with the truck and gear matched to the load.
Old building stock, ancestral homes. A good share of the island’s houses date from the 18th and 19th centuries — stone walls, original floors, narrow staircases, low attics. That changes the cleanout: trickier access, wheelbarrowing along long galleries, items piled up over several generations. We work without putting stress on a heritage building.
Estate cleanouts and big loads. The island brings in a lot of calls for estate cleanouts. When a family property changes hands, you often have to empty the house, the basement, the attic and a barn in one go: old furniture, aged farm tools, materials stored for years. We plan ahead, sometimes in two trips, at a firm price.
One bridge, one road around the island. The entire island is served by a single access point, the pont de l’île, then by the chemin Royal that loops around it for 67 km. The eastern tip, toward Saint-François, is the farthest out: we build in the drive time so we arrive with the right truck.
Distance and possible surcharge. The island is part of our extended service zone. For the villages close to the bridge, it’s the standard rate, with no travel fee.
