Founded in the 1830s by Irish settlers — the original « St. Patrick’s Settlement » — the municipality still carries the marks in its street names, like Gosford, Wexford and Dublin, and in the Celtic cross at the chapelle Saint-Joseph. For us, that heritage shows up as older homes with low basements and attics that have piled up over several generations.

Next to Garrison Valcartier, about ten minutes away, Shannon houses a lot of Forces families.
