Crossed by the rivière Jacques-Cartier and bordering lac Saint-Joseph and the Duchesnay tourist resort, Sainte-Catherine blends an old village core, large wooded lots, and new residential subdivisions that go up year after year. That range means our jobs vary a lot from one end of town to the other.
A commuter town growing fast. Sainte-Catherine’s growth draws young families in particular, who settle into recent residential developments like the Boisé Natura at the centre of town. These new-build homes generate their own kind of cleanout: clearing a garage after moving in, hauling away leftover construction debris, and getting rid of furniture from the old place that no longer fits.
A two-speed housing stock. Alongside the newer subdivisions, the old village along route de Fossambault has older houses with low basements, attics, and sheds that have filled up over decades. Cleanouts here are more of the classic kind: we sort, break things down, and often wheelbarrow a fair distance out to the truck.
Estates and waterfront properties. Around lac Saint-Joseph and the river, a number of homes and converted former cottages are passing to a new generation. Estate cleanouts are common here, as are basement cleanouts and attic clear-outs — often decades of belongings to sort through carefully.
Large lots, access to plan around. Many properties sit on big wooded lots, with a long driveway and a shed or detached garage at the back. We plan the wheelbarrowing ahead of time, along with access to the secondary building and, when the volume tops one truckload, a second trip.
