Saint-Sauveur is the lively working-class neighbourhood right next to downtown Quebec City. Typical duplex-triplex with exterior staircases, lots of tenants, slowly gentrifying. We work here several times a week. From $99.

Junk removal in Saint-Sauveur, what to know

Saint-Sauveur, 14,000 residents, is one of Quebec City’s oldest working-class neighbourhoods. Built around the Saint-Sauveur church and boulevard Charest West, the sector has a dense urban fabric: duplexes and triplexes packed against each other, narrow grid streets, few backyards.

Plexes, challenge and norm. The vast majority of Saint-Sauveur’s housing stock consists of 2-3 unit plexes with exterior stairs leading directly to the upper unit. For our crews, these stairs (often wooden, sometimes metal) need extra attention in winter (ice), but no surprises — we do this every week. Furniture comes out the exterior, which often simplifies logistics compared to narrow interior stairs.

High rental turnover. Saint-Sauveur is majority rental. Leases end June 30 (Quebec tradition), so July is an intense month for us in the area — post-move cleanouts for tenants who left old furniture behind, clearouts where the tenant left without taking everything. Our post-move service is in high demand.

Ongoing gentrification. For about a decade, young owners have been buying and renovating area plexes. Result: lots of renovation work, so lots of debris to clear — old flooring, drywall, cardboard from new IKEA kitchens. Our post-reno service works well here.

Parking. Streets are narrow and mostly residential, with alternating side parking by week. We watch the signs before setting up and can keep the truck just a few minutes for loading if needed — not usually a problem.

Frequent client types. Tenants emptying their 4½, young owners clearing what the previous owner left, plex managers handling turnovers.
